Finland’s Islam is well associated with Tatarians. The Tatarites are Muslim Turkish tribes who came from Russia with the surrender of Suomelinna as a family. And a cemetery was built on this land. They were present in Finland both as soldiers and as merchants of textiles, furs and mats. In 1925 Finnish Muslims were able to form their own congregation. The Freedom of Religion Act was enacted in 1922, and Islam still exists in Finland.
